I've been told on several occassions that I look like Zooey Deschanel's character on New Girl. If I had lots of money to buy the clothes I wanted to wear, I would dress just like her. We don't really have the best luck in the dating world, but are still hopeless romantics. We're both kind of goofy and socially awkward. We both work with kids and are very emotional. And for some reason we both seem to think that singing our words makes more sense. She just kind of gets me, ya know?

it's a 'random' link-up at the shine project today. here's everything you never knew you wanted to know about me. : ) 

- i have camera envy. in other words, i am slightly envious of anyone with a better camera than myself.
- i love finding new, bright colors to paint my nails. in fact...any suggestions?
- i listen to rainstorm and nature sounds while i fall asleep at night.
- i have 'never been kissed.' i'm almost 22 years old.

 - see these girls up there? (there are 3 missing) i've known my entire life. some of my best memories are with them.
- i don't like big groups. i prefer small groups of people. because of this when i'm in big groups i become withdrawn and quiet.
- i like poetry. call me crazy.
- i love chips & salsa. almost as much as raspberries.

- i love me some frozen yogurt! menchies, twizl berry, tcby. it doesn't matter where it's from, i love it...better than ice cream. sshhh! don't tell anyone.
- i'm quite an emotional person so when i cry in any movie don't be too surprised. i even cried in the justin bieber movie. let's face it. i'm weird.
- my favorite tv show is 'psych.' sean + gus = the most hilarious characters ever.
- in real life you will often hear me say, 'classy' and 'cute' regardless of what i'm responding to.

6 o' clock.

sometimes it takes me until 6 o' clock in the evening to do my makeup and hair. but, sometimes i like the way it turns out...so, i take goofy pictures in my 3-d justin bieber glasses. always classy with me.

don't worry, i saved the best for last. hopefully you will never see my sad attempt at a wink in public. :)

riverdance.

today i went to riverdance at kingsbury hall.

i have to admit that i did not have high expectations for this concert. i mean, i'm all for culture and concerts, but i thought it would be kind of weird. so, when only half way through the first song i realized this was not going to be the concert i had expected. i was glad. it was completely captivating how amazing these dancers, musicians, and singers were. absolute perfection! although it doesn't quite do it justice you can watch this little clippy for a little taste of the riverdance. since, riverdance is originally from ireland here's some things i think of when i think of the irish. that i love.

my favorite holiday.

why is everyone so convinced that valentine's day is only for those fortunate enough to have a significant other? well, i'm convinced valentine's day is one of the greatest holidays ever, with or without a boyfriend.

this is my nephew's look of complete excitement after opening his "girl valentine" from me, to find his idol...justin beiber. who is the greatest auntie ever? yeah that's what i thought.
allison and i made valentine's for some neighbor boys. we wrote our own clever captions on them too. now where's mine?

we made a delicious valentine's dinner. complete with a pizza with all the necessary toppings, sparkling cider, and heart champagne cups.

i'm completely loving this song. we could happen.

day 2 - your definition of love.

so, what is love? i think love is caring about someone so much, yet knowing that even if it isn't meant to be you still want them to be happy. even if it isn't with you. love is the little things like the little 90 year old couples that still hold hands walking down the street. love is laughing at each other's stupid jokes that no one else understands. love is getting lost in the middle of nowhere and simply enjoying each other's company. love is giving up your small wants and dreams to give the other their dreams. love is talking about everything and anything. love is changing the plans you made for yourself to let them into your life. love is knowing someone's faults, not down-playing them, but realizing that just as you aren't perfect, neither are they. yet, caring about them just the same. love is, "learning through experience that service nurtures affection, adversity spawns growth, forgiveness heals, patience sweetens, and vows unite and sanctify."

i think we all have an idea of the kind of love we want to have some day. often times the ideal picture of love is what we see in the movies and novels. so, we dream up this perfect happy ending thinking that somehow it will make us happy. really though, that was just their happy ending. not yours. you have to work hard to create the happy ending...or rather, beginning. for you.

love can be shown in so many different ways, yet it often goes unsaid. always waiting for the one you love to speak up first. everyone needs to feel wanted but we're often so afraid to feel vulnerable we give up the opportunity while it is in front of us. you know when you really like someone and you think, 'well if they could just see how awesome i am, they would care about me too!' so, you wait. and wait. and wait. pretty soon you're lonely, sad, and wondering what you could have done differently. you think, 'i'll never feel this way about anyone again.' and then....you do. and it happens all over again. then a couple broken hearts later you realize something. waiting around for someone, trying to convince them how wonderful you could be, doesn't make them love you any more. you have to find the one that is as excited to see you as you are to see them. find the one who smiles when you smile. the one that makes you smile when they smile. find the one that makes you want to be a better person, yet all the while knowing that they still think you're good enough just the way you are.

i don't know much about love. but, i guess that's part of the adventure of life. you figure things out as you go. making a bunch of mistakes. but all the while still loving in the best way you know how.

introductions.

you know i really should be doing homework right now. i have two papers due this week and several chapters of reading, yet somehow i have absolutely ZERO motivation to do anything important. i felt this way yesterday too. and all weekend. awesome, i think this will be a rough week! anyway, a couple days back i mentioned i was going to do a 30 day blog challenge. as it turns out i didn't even make it to the first day! well i'm starting right now.

day 1 - introduce yourself with pictures and words.

first off, if you're reading this right now there is a pretty good chance you know me decently well already. so this may be a repeat. oh well, repetition is good right? also this is a lot harder than it sounds...what about me is interesting enough to share with the world? i think my 'about me' section sums me up pretty well so i'll just work with that.

"Who am I? Believe it or not this is something I find myself asking quite often. I am just an ordinary college student trying to figure out what it is I hope to accomplish with my life. Sometimes succeeding, other times not so much. Yet, always picking myself back up. My passion is photography. I love to decorate and I'm always starting a new craft project. I could not live without music. I love all things vintage and antique. I believe everything sounds better on paper. I love to laugh and make ridiculous jokes. Life is oh so sweet."

i am currently in my third year at utah state university. from the time i was eleven until my first semester at college i wanted to study interior design. that only lasted a short while before i changed my mind. since then i have considered psychology, sociology, social work, art, graphic design, and family, consumer and human development. well, i think i finally have one picked out. english.

english works for me because i a} i always get the best grades in english courses b} i have had an obsessive{?} love of reading for as long as i can remember c}i love to write about everything and anything.

my hobbies which i am most passionate about include; writing and photography. i love photography almost more than anything else. why do i love it so much? check out my other blog.

my family is most important to me in my life. they are truly my best friends. especially these two little ones. my roommate katie used to always tease me because every time i would talk about my niece and nephew. i cry. i think they are who i miss most when i leave home to come back to school.

i have always had a love for all things creative, artsy, crafty, fashion, decorative and the list could go on. some days i wish i could just sew and craft all day! thankfully i have roommates that support my endless need to constantly redecorate the apartment on a whim. i even have specific decorations for all the holidays throughout the year.

do you ever just have a really great day? today was like that for me. kinda like a party. {hence the confetti scattered all across the floor} :)

also, tomorrow {or rather today since it's 2:00 am} i'm going to start a 30 day blogging challenge. we'll see how far i can get. time to get excited

1). What is your dream job?
oh no...where does one begin...i've always wanted to be an amazing photographer or own my own little shop with unique vintage/antique clothing, decorating, records, jewelry, you name it. or...that i could get payed to do crafts and decorating ALL day. yes.

2). How do you take your tea or coffee?
hot chocolate please!

3). What is your most important beauty secret?
au naturale...not completely, but just basic makeup. and of course lip gloss.

4). If you had an all-expense paid vacation to anywhere, where would you go?
new zealand. it's so green and beautiful. or anywhere in europe.

5). If a genie popped up right now, what would your three wishes be?
1. i magically had all the money i need to pay for school and to travel. 2. a brand new, fully loaded DSLR camera. 3. a happily, ever after. :)

6). If you could only have one type of food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
raspberries. no competition there.

7). What one talent do you wish you had?
i wish i was better able to talk to people without being awkward and was able to connect with others better.

and that i could write beautiful and inspiring music.

8). Who is your biggest celebrity crush?
jim from the office. he's got it all...personality, humor, good looks, and he's just a great man.

9). If you could look into the future, would you?
probably yes. sometimes it would be awful nice to know what i'm supposed to do with my life.

10). What made you start a blog?
i originally had started a photography blog, but i also love to write so i thought it would be a good excuse to write (and it even doubles as my journal. ha!)
