chrysanthemum mirror.

i found this project on this blog, well actually it was my younger sisters that found it. :) anyway, we thought it would be a fun project to do for our mom for mother's day this year. it was super simple although it didn't turn out as seamless as the original but overall i like the concept and how it looks. instead of using the mdf wreath forms like the original (i thought it might get kind of pricey) we used a foam board from hobby lobby and cut it to the size we wanted. definitely check out the blog addicted 2 decorating for a full tutorial!

i have been very lucky to have friends who will indulge with me in crafty projects. me and one of my best friends, amanda decided to get together every week and do a different craft project. last week we watched 'flipped' (i can't even tell you how many times i have watched that movie!) and we made these cute button earrings. we were inspired by this tutorial on pinterest.

 you will need:
- buttons
- earring backs
- lace
- hot glue gun

petals & memories.

every year for as long as i can remember my cousins and i have done a Christmas gift exchange. We usually draw a name but this year we decided to buy gifts for all of us. After contemplating for weeks what i could make, because of course, i could never just buy something. i have to make it...

it's raining crayons.

did you just start singing 'it's raining men?" because i sure did!
when i first saw the melted crayon art all over pinterest i thought it was the loveliest crafty project, but it also felt a bit pointless to me. that sure didn't stop me from wanting to do it myself. i wanted my version to have something more than just the crayons though. so this is what i came up with...

the only thing that didn't work out so well...
as i was carrying the canvas out to my car it slipped out of my hands and landed on my mom's garage floor. all of the crayons went flying off in every direction. so...my finished project now needs some help. dang it.

stockings hung all in a row.

i had a request to post my do-it-yourself Christmas decor is all its glory. now, i want to remind you that my object/decorating photo taking skills are not exactly great. but you get the idea. right? and while you're at it you can listen to some michael buble Christmas music. could you really ask for anything more?

now i've got to go help make dinner for roommate Christmas. have a lovely weekend!

a little project.

ok friends, so i need your advice on a little project i just completed...

i got all the way through with making these felt flowers and putting them on the headband, when i went to try it on in the mirror. at which point i realized that the flowers are very large and seem to take up the entire side of my head. or at least that is the way it seemed to me. so i would like your opinion, are these flowers to big that they look silly? or is it just the combination of colors? other then that i really liked the way the headband turned out. and of course the best part? super easy and cheap...as always!

what you'll need:
- various colors of felt {hobby lobby sells felt, 4 pieces for $1}
- needle & thread {in color of choice}
- pre-made headband {you could use the stretchy kind or hard kind, i got mine at the dollar store}
- scissors

luckily i happened to already have everything on hand, so my cost? $0. win!
so tell me...should i keep the headband and attempt to wear it, or should i give it away?

fall yarn wreath.

i've seen this project on pinterest and countless craft blogs the last couple weeks. i have been dying to try it out for myself and last week i remembered i hadn't gotten anything for my mom for her birthday at the beginning of the month. it was the perfect opportunity to finally do this project and not feel guilty about spending a little money since it wouldn't be for me!

what you'll need:
- styrofoam wreath form
- bundle of yarn
- hot glue gun
- pinning needles

for the embellishments i used:
- felt in various colors {who knew they made felt in houndstooth print!}
- buttons
- needle & thread
- bead branch cluster {on clearance at hobby lobby}

and introducing my backdrop, which you may have seen before in these pictures.
all you need is a piece of cardboard and pretty wrapping paper...the perfect backdrop for all those crafts you do!

what time is it?

i was feeling a bit sad & lonely today so what better way to brighten the day then with a craft project! i bought this clock several years ago with the intent of sprucing up the clock face. well, of course it sat in my closet, under my bed, in a box, basically everywhere except for the wall for the last two years. not anymore!

what you'll need:

- old {or new} clock
- number decals {you could use stickers, stamps, cut-outs, wood, etc.}
- scrapbook paper
- glue stick
- scissors

what you do:

step 1. open clock and remove all hardware. {on mine i just had to remove the clear covering on the front}
step 2. trace a circle, appropriate dimensions onto scrapbook paper.
step 3. apply glue to the inside of the clock. apply scrapbook paper circle.
step 4. attach numbers.
step 5. put all hardware back into clock face.

now we finally have a clock in the kitchen. whoo hoo! best part is it only cost me $3 because i already had all of the supplies except for the numbers.

and in other news....
it's not finished yet, but i have another craft project coming up soon! be excited.
